err yeah! Had a trip out in August to see the MAKS show, a couple of bomber bases (blackjacks oh yeah!), museums and stuff. The tatty 144 is about here (external link), and the tidier one is at Zhukovsky (external link), and was flown by Nasa around 6 years ago!

They famously lost one at the Paris airshow years back, not sure about anymore!

When nasa flew the one in the last pic, it had something to do with a new sst.....

Data collected from the research program was being used to develop the technology base for a proposed future American-built supersonic jetliner. Although actual development of such an advanced supersonic transport (SST) is currently on hold, commercial aviation experts estimate that a market for up to 500 such aircraft could develop by the third decade of the 21st Century. Yes, there was the famous 1973 Paris Air Show crash. Conspiracy theorists argue that it crashed whilst taking evasive manouvers to avoid a French Airforce Mirage jet which was secretly filming it... allegedly the evasive manouvers caused the engines to stall...

Not with the fuel situation...gonna have to develop better propulsion,
and soon.

I think Rutan is on the right track..the Ultra long range aminals will wind up being suborbital...

but what do I know? <LOL>

Didja know that the Concorde grew over a foot in length while in flight at supersonic speeds? Makes designing such aircraft very difficult.
