Nice shots. Where were these taken. As for their runways, and their airports, yes they're nothing to brag about. I landed in Rostov last year and while taxiing the short distance that we did it was amazing since it felt like we landed in a plane junk yard as opposed to an airport.

as for the intake doors.. like ascari says.. necessity is the mother of invention!! without all the able bodied manpower to go out and clean up the runways.. maybe someone on that side of the fence would have come up with somthing useful, too.
