What do you think? I'm not sure if I like the edit, but they were dancing in a a basketball gym and it kinda looked off.

Not sure why you dont like this. Is it for a client, or not liking the crop,composition,maski​ng,..etc?

not for a client. I'm fine with the masking, but not so sure about the crop and composition

I've never been a fan of any image shot from behind the subject.

It's fine if she likes it shot from behind her, but yeah, it would've been more effective from a side or front angle. But that is a lot of white-space. See how it looks if you just blur the original background?
