I was given Photoshop Elements 9 for Christmas but haven't loaded it on my desktop computer yet because I may buy a laptop and want it on there for travel. Does Adobe allow you to use the software on 2 computers at the same time? Can I load it on both?

Yes you can, on a max of two computers. If though you use both the Mac and Windows systems you may need to work with Adobe support, although if you have it on Disk you may be OK.

Install on two computers, yes. Use on both at the same time, no.

I had been using PSE7 on my desktop computer and purchased and installed PSE9 a few months ago. My intention has been to uninstall PSE7 from the desktop so that I could put it on my laptop. Well, yesterday I finally got around to it. For some reason I decided to browse through the EULA first and noticed that it clearly stated that you can install on a second computer but that you are not permitted to use the program on both machines at the same time.

So, I ended up installing PSE7 on my laptop and not uninstalling it from the desktop just in case I need it (although I can't imagine what for).

Well, I'm not going to encourage anyone to intentionally violate the EULA, but I will say that there've been many times when I've switched computers and not exited -- I'd just run from my desktop to my laptop or vice versa and never had a problem -- not to violate the "rule" but just making a dash without bothering to shut everything down first.

I agree -- unless you have a mouse in each hand and are editing on two computers simultaneously, I would have to think that you are in functional compliance! :D

Of course, feel free to insert the words "I'm not a lawyer, but..." wherever needed in the above.... :lol:

OK, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but, I also do not think my question warrants another thread altogether....soooooo....

I have a question about PSE 9;
Is there a way to minimize your file into the "project bin"? If so, I can not find it.
Earlier versions had the option on each photo file, but I don't see it in this version. Here is a "cell phone" photo of what I have in PSE 7. In PSE 9 I just the the "x" for closing the file. I really hope this option has not been omitted.

I think I can answer your question. On PSE9 (and I think 8, also) go into Edit > Preferences > General and select "Allow Floating Documents in Full Edit Mode." Then in the Edit window, go to the upper left of the image where you see the file name, etc. Grab that tab and drag it toward the center of the screen and then let go and you will have a "floating" image. The frame for the image will have the usual "-- [] X" in the upper right corner. Click the "--" and the image will minimize to the Project Bin. Double click to bring it up from the Bin and then drag the image back to its original position (upper left) and it will again fill the edit window.

If that doesn't make sense let me know and I will try to post some screen shots.

Thank you for asking the question! I had read about that feature, but had forgotten to turn it on, so whenever I needed to see multiple images at once I was using the "split screen" button (just to the right of "Help"). I am SO glad I enabled it. I love it! :D

Thanks everyone for the help. Now I can load it on my desktop PC without worrying about a later laptop.
