I photographed* this coot at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park (Vancouver, B.C.) this spring BRXT (Before my Rebel XT). :D The beak is a little blown out but I'm still pleased with the overall shot.

* Canon AE-1 and Canon 70-200 F4

Good one..

I've taken lots of coot shots and I've determined that the coot's beak is the HARDEST thing in the world to expose correctly :)

Nice Job Stephen!

I'll second Jim_T's comments on the beak. Due to the extreme black and white of the bird, it makes this species quite a challenge to expose properly.
