Basketball started two months ago and I'm already bored of shooting it. I need to figure out how to get more creative and nailing a better white balance. I'm tired of shooting the same 5 players every game. At least with football there were 30+

Photos are Flickr clickable. Some combination of the 7D with 16-35, 50 1.4, 135L, or 70-200 II. I've had a recent lens recombination :D

Heeheehee ...... Geez, I looked at the 1st and 2nd pics and thought your WB is WAY off but then realised same player, sure, but different playing strip !! :)

Nice shooting. Really like the first looking down through the 'tunnel' of players. Good perspective.

Matt.

I like 1 and 4 if the crop wasnt so wide. But to me all of the photos don't seem as sharp as they could be. What type of post processing do you use?

These are enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.

Funny, I've been shooting a LOT of hoops this year and I'm not bored yet. Usually, at a similar point in the MLB season (around mid-season) I'm starting to lose my mojo, but I'm covering 6 basketball games in the next 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to each one.

I know what you mean. I don't know if that is user error or Flickr's compression. I shoot RAW, import to Lightroom 3, adjust the white balance, add a little contrast, and make sure the exposure is looking good.

I think the sharpness issue is with my AF method. I've been using AF expansion on my 7D and I think the expanded points are working more than I want them to. For example, #1, his numbers are relatively sharp but his face is a tad soft for my tastes. I think the expansion points are picking up the contrast of the numbers on the jersey rather than staying locked on the face.

Thanks for the feedback. That tunnel might have been luck :)

Your gig sounds fun. I was quite happy shooting football and the SF Giants a couple months ago  Right now the only thing going on is basketball. I need a little variety and I'll be good to go.
