I created my smugmug site last year and wanted a domain name, so I started the typical search. My name is Kim Sullivan (Kimberly Anne) and I soon discovered that Kim Sullivan is also the name of a professional wildlife photographer in Oklahoma. (And from what I see she's good...!) Anyway, kimsullivanphotography, kimsullivanphotos, etc were all taken.

I settled on photosbykas.com at the time (kas being my initials). But people seem to have a hard time remembering the site, probably because they don't connect kas with my initials - they just know me as Kim.

Anyway, now a couple of options have opened up - kimsullivanimages.com and .ca, and ksullivanphotos.com and .ca (I'm in Canada and shoot nature and wildlife local to BC and western Canada.)

So I'm looking for opinions... How do these sound? ksullivanphotos... kimsullivanimages... I like the sound of ksullivanphotos, but if someone types in kimsullivanphotos instead it will go to the shooter in OK...

What do you think? (I would point everything to what I have now, so folks who know the current addy would still find me..)

Whatever you do, keep it as short and simple as possible. I kind of prefer 4-8 letters total. That range is easy to type without mistakes. That means I'd be more inclined to try to get kaspics.com or something along those lines. Your URL doesn't have to be your business or full name. Hell, it could be douchebag.com if that's what people will remember.

Either way, get business cards and try to keep them on you (the latter part is where I fail miserably).

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Hmm - kaspics isn't half bad. Right now I have 7 domain names in my cart at godaddy - kimsullivanimages .com and .ca, ksullivanphotos .com and .ca, kaspics .com and .ca, and photosbykas .ca, since I didn't get it when I got the .com But I don't know if I should get them or not. I don't want to risk losing them, but I won't use them all - that's for sure...

People say you should register everything you can, but I got tired of paying $120 a year just in urls so I scaled it down to the few I actually use. At this point I think it's only three for my photography.

other suggestions photosbykim or kimpics? Either way, don't let your shopping cart expire otherwise the urls you have temporarily 'secured' will be taken by domain snipers.

Both of those are already taken.
