OK....I'm getting into doing some portrait shooting. I have gotten stands and brackets and added, for now, a 2nd 580EX to start. I know I can use the supplied Canon flash shoe stand to attach to the light stand bracket.

The question is....what do I use if (when?) I lose/misplace the Canon stand? Which we all know will eventually happen :)

While getting the new 580EX, I ordered two Bogen "cold"shoes ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com …EG&addedTroughType=search (external link) )

These attached nicely to the bracket...but...guess what...the 580EX did not fit into it.

Since I am not into fattening UPS' wallet with shipping charges...to/from...I would appreciate pointers to, reasonably priced, shoe attachments.

Thanks...JOHN

I use this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ghType=categoryNavigation (external link)
with my 550EX. I thought it was a little pricy, but there is some added aiming flexibility and the umbrella mount.

Thanks, IOF

No problem with the metal shoe and the 550 contacts...or did you use tape to insulate?
