wow man, have a bad day today?

Well, I am in Seattle...:)

I guess when you said you focus and recomposed with the 17-55 and it works fine, why didn't it work with the 50.... I kind of figured you didn't really understand DOF...Sorry if I came off brash...

I've owned 10 or 15 Sigma lenses and 50 or so canon primes....I've had about the same success (keeper) rate with both brands....I understand why a lot of folks think their lenses don't work, when they actually do, usually it's just that they don't have experience with a certain type of lens or they have their AF and AF tests set up to fail....

I don't know you and don't know why you're having these problems....I would suspect your 7D AF is set up wrong or is just bad period....eleven 50's....That's just absurd.

guys really... why does this thread supprise you so much? Sigma has been reported on by hundreds to have horrible compatibility issues with Canon bodies.

it's mainly just a numbers thing...i mean the odds of it being the lens that many times in a row, just aren't in your favor...

i read your post #40...the way i interpreted it is that you tested the sigma with MA on a tripod...got it to where you thought it was dialed in...then took it for "real world" shots...i assumed the real world shots weren't done on a tripod...if the tripod shots you were getting 5 different focus points...then yeah it's a bunk lens...send it back(which i see you've already done anyways)...

anyways...at least you learned to not focus recompose from this...hope the 85mm works out for you, as well as the next 50mm

Yep, after that many lenses...if there is not a user issue, then there must be a body issue.

No, the tripod mounted shots weren't for MA. The 5 shots were Tripond mounted!!! Those were my 'real world' shots. Thats what I'm trying to say!! There's no question is just a bunk lens.

Or he has wronged the Canon GODS and is punished with extremely bad luck with lenses. :p

test set up is gone from this morning, along with my sigma lens (returned in exchange for my 85 1.8)

I wonder how you will go with the 85mm f/1.8??

I'm looking forward to more threads from you on this lens..

^I take it you're scrapping the Sigma 85mm idea? Are you adding the 135L to the 85mm 1.8?

Yeah, I'm done with Sigma. I can't take the focus shifts.

I'm going to stick to all Canon. No need to worry about "reverse engineering", and the slight (to my eyes) difference between the Canon vs. Sigma variants aren't worth it to me.

I'm going to add the 50mm 1.4 this week.

Then I'm still trying to decide between the 28mm 1.8 or 135L. The 135L seems wonderful, but not sure the focal length will work for me.

go read post # 47 my friend

"and yes,i just got new Canon 85 1.8 that performs flawlessly thus far.

ive done about 100 shots around my house and only saw perhaps 3 or 4 OOF and that was probably due to the subject not having the greatest contrast."
