My T1i can do hockey and soccer. Just to much bashing of the AF system by some members.

You're right, way too much bashing, not enough appreciation. I shoot skating with a 5D2. There are few people that would recommend a 5D2 for indoor sports but my 5D2 handles it very well and sells lots of pictures for me. Don't get too hung up on specs, cameras now a days are nearly all very good and the endless hours people spend splitting hairs is just that - splitting hairs. There's no reason a T1i can't take great sports photos, especially if you know how to use your camera.

well canon gets bash on their AF because of the pro level, because suppositly their FF camera are not as good for action as the d700. But if you look at the rebels and the 50D against the d90 and d5000 and d3100/3000 they had the better AF in this segment. And allot of the so call pros think that the better AF of the d700 trickles down to their prosumer and entry, which was not the case.

I think the d7000 is a very good camera. But the difference was akin to the 50D vs D90, but allot closer in performance between the 60D and d7000. The d90 is a good camera, and the cost to performance favored it over the 50d. That way why it was 2009 tipa pick for that sigement. The 60D is price better then the d7000 for the cost vs performance. And canon will sell more 60D for that reason. That .7fps is not a kill must have and the metal vs plastic body is not really important as the d90 proved. You give people a good solid performer at a good price point, and they will buy it.

I was surprised that they rated the 60D's AF system superior to the Nikon,.

it is interesting they rated the 60D better than the Nikon D7000 in image quality, noise and AF speed

all modern dslr produce excellent photos, no way to tell without pixel peeping to see the difference. Think the difference is form the processing that nikon has as oppose to canon, even in raw there is a some done in the camera, and the canon software might be better as well. The sensors are both very good.

I was surprised that they rated the 60D's AF system superior to the Nikon, for most people it's a given that a Nikon AF system is superior to Canon's on most cameras, apparently not so, and this agrees with my less than scientific assessment from using the 60D's AF, I find it quick and accurate and it does perform well in low light too.

On another note: I am always amazed at the bashing almost all new cameras receive when they first come out. The 60D has gotten more than it's share, especially from the 7D Fan Club but the reality is the 60D is a terrific camera and perfect for many people. It's lower cost, lighter, still has plenty of features, is speedy and has options a plenty, handles very well and has at least as good of IQ and high ISO performance as the pricier and heavier 7D. To Paraphrase PopPhoto, it' surpasses the 50D in most area, and adds video. If that's not an upgrade I don't what is.

What I bolded makes this topic even more interesting I think. The D7000 certainly didn't face much bashing. The specs were amazing pre-launch (and still are, on paper), but the camera has not lived up to crazy-high expectations. The 60D rolled out with a black eye and fat lip, and has pretty much just slowly and steadily staked a place as a very good camera that is very close to the D7000 (except in price).

Really? Perhaps you need to review the past posts. The bashing seemed to primarily come from 40D and 50D owners that were hoping for a 7D at a much lower price and didn't get it. I am a 7D owner and I stood up for the 60D from the get-go, as did many others. Also, this always happens, the bashing occurred with the 40D, 50D, etc. We go through the same "armchair quarterbacking" each time a new camera comes out.
