Second process of tree

Processed this a second time, starting with levels to pull the color balance away from the yellows. When I first processed it I thought the whites looked too garish. On second look I like the more varied color palatte and the contrast between the colors of the tree and the browns of the fireplace.

Because of the multi colors given off by the lights, I can see how a natural looking white balance could be difficult to achieve. Since the two shots are so similar though, I would think the white balance of the two images would be consistant as well. Which of the two is more accurate or more appealing is for you to decide based on what you recall or the effect/feeling you're trying to express.

Personally, I like the white balance on the first image a bit better.

The second shot just feels more like Christmas to me. that warmth in the overall color makes me feel like i have a belly full of warm Christmas dinner.
