I've downloaded a bunch of presets for different effects in LR. In the LR 2 version they were listed under the history panel on the left side in the develop module.
Where might they be in LR 3?

On a Windows computer use Explorer to go to C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets. Create a new folder and add the unzipped preset files to it. That path can vary according to Windows edition. For XP it is C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets Elie / אלי

First you need to unzip the files if they are zipped. Then open Lightroom, go to the Develop Module > Presets Panel and right click on one of the existing folders. Select "New Folder" from the pop-up menu and name it whatever you wish. Then scroll down to the folder you just created, right-click on it and select "Import" and follow the prompts +1.. tonylong ...winded More info | Jan 16, 2011 15:29 | #10 Chauncey, I'm not clear on what you're dealing with here -- are you saying you downloaded some presets but don't know where you put them or whether you properly installed them, or are you saying you can't locate the Presets panel? From your original post it sounds like the latter may be the problem -- are you seeing the Presets panel above the History and Snapshots panels? Can you see the pre-installed presets? You'd have to open the panel to view them (click the arrow icon). Tony

Hey Tony...I'm saying that I downloaded them but apparently neglected to import them into LR and now don't have a clue where they ended up. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

If you did change it to another destination folder, that setting is usually sticky. So just start to download something, anything, and when the Save dialog comes up take note of where it's pointed and then cancel it. Elie / אלי

tonylong ...winded More info | Jan 16, 2011 19:56 | #14 Chauncey, can you remember where you downloaded it from? If not googling "lightroom presets" could maybe jog your memory. Then, look up the file name and search for it on the system. Tony
