Not so great trip to Mt. Baldy...

It's been a while since we saw snow, so decided to go up to a nearest mountain. I took my DSLR gear (instead of my little companion S95) hoping to capture some nice snow action shots. Shortly after getting up to the top of the mountain (we had to take a 10 minutes chair lift scenic ride from the parking lot to the main base), my trusty 5Dmkii stopped working and was showing an error 30 message every time I pressed the shutter button. This made all my gear useless and even heavier than normal for the remaining part of the day... I don't know why I didn't take my 50D or even S95 as a backup. Oh well, here are few of the shots before it went dead.

Nice pictures. Shame about your 5D2. Hopefully its nothing serious.

That's correct. It's only 13 miles off Mountain exit from 210 fwy. It literally only took about 45 minutes to get to Mt. Baldy. When you get there, you can opt to just play snow (free of course) right before the parking lot area or you can take the chair lift ($20 round trip for adult) all the way up to the top of the mountain. At the top, there is a restaurant, ski rentals, lessons, and etc... You can either stay at the base for tubing and/or just playing with snow, or you can take additional lifts from the base to higher locations for actual skiing or snowboarding.

Thanks DH22! It's actually a pretty serious shutter issue that I cannot troubleshoot myself. Fortunately, I just confirmed that my 5D2 still has a month left on the 1 year warranty and will just drop it off at Canon Irvine for repair. Thanks for your concern.

BTW Dave, I just browsed through some of your photos and they are wonderful!!
