I am happy to finally have my images transferred to my ipad for instant review via the FTP server function on the WFT-E5a wireless grip on the 7d and the updated shuttersnitch app on the ipad or iphone.. Works great. you still need a wireless router as the go-between to link the two together.

I hear that you can by-pass the router altogether by using the bluetooth connectivity with a adhoc connection. I am working on the proper settings for this now which is the ideal setup for in the field.

just too bad the shuttersnitch app seems unnecessarily expensive :(

you can use WFTServer as well for a live view...although the screen is kinda small and slow to respond :(

BTW, here is an ad hoc setup using a 5d mkii and wft-4e ...setup should be the same http://www.clubsnap.com …s/showthread.php?t=760487 (external link)

Agree. And 16 bucks doesn't seem that expensive to me considering that very few will need this kind of app. I have no doubt that the maker of iFart gets more downloads :)

If you jailbreak your ipad, you can use the my-wifi app to make an wifi-hotspot and eliminate the router. At least it works with the eye-wi memorycard.

I was just about to say this. You can jailbreak it and download a program called MyWi to use your ipad/iphone as a hotspot. If jailbreaking isnt what you want to do then you can also wait a little bit and AT&T is release mobile hotspot for iphone.

I just love a juiced up 1 watt antena on my router.
I can sit on one end of the field and us me iPad like I was sitting beside my camera.
For grins, this spring I'm going to try a repeater and see how it will extend the range.

The areas I use my wireless setup most has no AT&T coverage of any kind and wifi is totally out of the picture unless you bring it with you.

Wow, thats a hefy price to transfer files wirelessly.

I did this by just buying a Eye-fi card pro for $100. It allows the use of ad-hoc connections. I can transfer my files to my laptop without a router. Works wonderfully, 18MP RAW file in about 5 seconds..

Since I already had 2 mini/laptops, iPod Touch, iPad 64 3G, iPad 32 wifi the only extra cost for me was the app. Well that and an alfa 1watt antena to extend my wifi.

App $20°°, antena $29°° I had the mini laptops to dump memory cards into and the apple ware for my business.

I was about to purchase a wft-2a when I found the dslr app.

Really was no extra expense for me and it's all tax deductible for me.

What Operating System is running on your laptop?

I previously tried to ad hoc connect to a laptop with WinXP, and to ad hoc connect to a netbook with WinXP, and failed to even get the EyeFi Pro to find the ad hoc connection in the setup. EyeFi sent me instructions, which I followed, and the setup still failed. They then commented that ad hoc worked better with Win7, but I haven't yet upgraded the laptop or netbook to that...if you are running Win7 on your laptop, that just might be the catalyst to get me to upgrade the OS on them.

Thanks for the warning that Win7 basic does not ad-hoc!
