Much better photography weather than the Christmas Stages, though it wasn't better weather for anyone who wasn't wearing waterproofs as it rained on and off all day then cleared up nicely once it was dark.

The event was my first proper use of my new Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM and my new Lowepro Flipside 400 AW which both performed brilliantly. And it was the first time I've shot motorsport at night so my 430EX II saw its first use for non-family photography.

The thumbnails link to image's Flickr page with Exif intact if you're into that sort of thing.

1st & the very last shots are my faves Darren. Looking at your pics & gaining clues from your comments, I was actually standing right next to you at one point along the fence where they come back onto the track from behind the toilet block. I remember you cracking on with another bloke who was asking about your rain sleeve, I've had a little look at them myself & seem very good value for money.
Rain or no rain, £10 is very good value for money for a full days high octane enjoyment!

Regards
Rick

Yeah you've got me, the Evo and white Escort shots are from about that time. I moved around a bit and then came back for the last two stages when they were running on the side road in the opposition direction in the dark.
The rain sleeves are pretty handy, it's nice to just put something on and be able to not worry about the rain at all. I used to use a plastic bag with a hole cut in the bottom and some elastic bands to keep it stable but it never really sat right, left the back of the camera open and didn't have space for a flash like one of the Op/Tech models does.

£10 for around nine hours is definitely good value.

Great set there fella....

What 6R4 sounds great wish it not had diff problems, he was leading the first 3 stages.... nice to see how close it would have been at the end...

Alan

Cheers.
It's a shame they retired again, I missed getting a decent front shot or a shot in the service area of them at the Christmas Stages when they retired with suspension problems and then the same again at the Jack Frost. Doubly a shame as they were winning.
