There's been lots of crosstalk about third-party LP-E6 batteries.

Does anybody have the definitive answer: is there a fully compatible third-party LP-E6 battery available? Fits correctly in camera and grip. Communicates fully with camera. Charges on the Canon charger. Capacity mAh equal or greater to Canon version.

I have used Sterlingtek batteries in the past (BP-511) but their web site is vague as to the capabilities of their LP-E6 replacements.

There are many now, as of early last year, that are chipped and will communicate with the charger and body. Sterlingtek now offers compatible POWWER batteries, there is Maximal, Phottix, etc. If the battery comes with a charger, chances are it is not chipped.

I've had zero problems with my phottix lp-e6 batteries. i have 3 of them and one oem canon.

I have a pair of Phottix, and after 25 gigs of hockey shoots, they seem very fine!
