Hi all,

Unlike some of you, we don't see many different kinds of Warblers here... not even during migrations. But we do have Butterbutts (Yellow-rumped Warblers)... Well at least 2 anyway, that stay with us thruout the winter months and for awhile into the spring. At this time of year these feisty little birds are amongst the first to arrive for breakfast, and they stay around nearly the whole day long until sunset.

We always do watch for the other Warbler species at migration times, and usually spot a few different kinds each year just briefly, even tho we just don't seem to get any good photo ops. Still we're happy to have our Winter Warblers around here posing for us all the time.

We hope you enjoy these,

Kenn

These are gorgeous, Kenn. No other word for it. My personal favourite would be #2, with all the others sharing the runner up position. Wow.

Great, sharp shots, Kenn. Now I wonder if I have them here in Peoria and have been passing them off as goldfinches in winter garb. Going to look closer. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everybody, we really enjoy them everyday here this time of year. :)

ardeekay - These warblers are tiny like the goldies and might be mistaken for them I guess, especially in winter. Our Goldfinches are already starting to "yellow up" now tho especially on their heads... and the Butterbutt's breast markings and bright yellow rump are a dead giveaway to distinguish them. :)
