Troubleshooting a 1DMKIV image

For starters thank you in advance:

I just got back from two days at Lock and Dam 14. Nearly 1600 images taken BUT there are three, two posted, that are a big concern for me. There is so much knowledge on this forum I'm certain someone can tell me if I have the start of a CF card going bad(SanDisc 16GB Extreme Pro, 90MB/s) or worse a sensor or shutter problem with IDMKIV. I bought the camera in early March 2010 so I have a warranty. FYI I shot 133 images today and I did not have this problem. If it is a camera problem then I'll have Canon deal with it. I'll gladly replace the CF card as I've probably taken 12-14k on it already. Don't know if they wear out but: man made is man made
If this is an operator error I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong to cause it.

Most likely the problem is with your card.

I'm unfortunately going to vote sensor, not card, not shutter. Card failures look like data loss, which this doesn't. This looks like bad data copied on to the card.

Definitely not shutter...

I'm leaning towards the card too...however, there's a really easy way to test it...get a known good CF or SD card, format it and toss it in your camera...see if the problem goes away...if it does, you have a bad card.

Any way you can contact Canon customer support and send them the image, to see what they say?

It looks like the data is being corrupted when being written to the card - whether it's the camera misinterpreting the data, or the card misinterpreting the data is hard to tell.

I'm certain that if this is an issue with the camera, Canon has plenty of examples in their database to compare it to.

Card failure...

My Sandisk did this... I contacted them and they replaced very quickly free of charge. No questions asked besides serial number on the card.

How often do you format your card?

3 out of 1600? Card, for sure.

The first word in Digital Photography is, well, Digital which means 1s and 0s can go stupid sometimes.

Thanks to those that have responded. I'll take some shots with another card and see if the problem continues. I usually format after taking pictures whether it a few shots or several hundred.
