Was bored so I tried doing something different. ----- Shot in 20 minutes without any video movement related gear. ----- No slider, track, fluid head. Just a stills tripod sliding and jerking on my marble floor! ----- http://www.vimeo.com/18885281 (external link) ----- I definitely need a lot of practice and maybe some more gear, but I quite like how it turned out! ----- Lens mug was gifted to me by a couple of my friends.-----Unfortunately, it was leaking, I returned it for another and that one was rusted.-----Got the refund so I'm not complaining (: ----- Shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II Lenses: Nikon 35-70 f/3.3 - 4.5 and Canon 24-70 f/2.8L ----- Fill light from a CN-126 (I really need a minus-green gel for this guy) ----- © 2011 Tan Zexun ----- Edit: Is the BB code not working for this forum?

One way you can get the sliding to smooth out is to put a rubber band around the leg and then pull on the rubber band. The elasticity will smooth out any of the jerks of your pulling. (This works just as well if you put it on the arm of the tripod head and pull it side-to-side for panning!)

Ah yes I tried the rubberband trick on a video head at a store before. Didn't think it could apply here though. Pulling 3-4kg from a rubberband and with rubber on marble seems difficult to me!

Whatever the case, I'm saving up for a proper video head and a glidetrack now! Hope to get it soon!
