I figure I haven't been myself in this thread, as I would typically post up examples. After the lens was sent to Sigma and calibrated at their expense, the lens has been consistent in its behavior, close or far... I actually don't use this lens for much past 20 feet or so though, I pull out other lenses at that point.

Hmm... The "focus issue" is something that comes up a lot on the forums, but I'm sure its a pretty small percentage. In the event that you do get a bad focusing lens, does Sigma offer a service to calibrate the lens?

Edit: Didn't refresh my screen and TeamSpeed just answered my question.

Not sure where you're located, but I went (1 1/2 hours one way) to a store and tried mine out before I bought it.
