Jan 18, 2011 07:40 | #4 I use a zoom as my walk around. The flexibility it gives me fits my shooting style best. All I want is just a little more than I'll ever have.

My favorite street lens is the 28mm f/1.8, but I've used all kinds of lenses for this purpose; 70-200 f/2.8 IS, 300 f/4 IS, 18-50 f/2.8 DC Macro, Sigma 30 and 50 f/1.4, Canon 50 f/1.4, 135L, 85 f/1.8, 35L, 24LII (briefly), 28-135 IS, and the lowly 50 f/1.8 II. I'm looking at using the 16-35L and 85mm f/1.8 combo in the near future, although the 16-35 is a little big for street for my tastes. Hopefully its versatility will win me over xgender.net

Zoom for me as a "walk-around-lens" in broad daylight, Fast Prime as a "walk-around-lens" for evenings or night time.Zoom for me as a "walk-around-lens" when I'm in a photographer friendly environment, Compact Prime as a "walk-around-lens" when I don't want to attract too much attention ![]() Best post so far... xgender.net

If I had the zoom maybe I could do something different, which does not always translate into something better. Gear: 500D|17-50 2.8|35L|85 1.8|EX430II
