New Body or Better Lenses

Ok I know this has been talked before , and i have read some info on the board but i want to make this more ME specific...

I have a XS

I shot mostly people Indoors Studio and Outdoors ( Weddings, Events, Portraits ).....

I have made money and i need Better Gear to keep up ( Not that the gear makes the Photog ) but it's the more professional thing to do , as you grow so does your gear.

Now i am in the position to :

A) Buy a better lens , maybe the 70-200mm f/4L to start and sell my Sigma 50-200 then get a 17-40mm f/4.0L USM sell my kit 18-55 and 28-70 sigma. Then Upgrade Body

B) Buy a better body ( keep my lenes for now ) to a good used 50d or a t2i ( Don't care about video ) the Upgrade Lenses.

I have lenses wise
18-55 kit
28-70 2.8-4 sigma
50-200 sigma
50 1.8

Now You in my shoes what would you do. What would improve you Pictures 1st.

I'll say 28-75 2.8 for indoors/outdoors and 70-200 F4 for outdoors.
Then...7d going be almost the same as 50D now.

I would get a new body. Use your 28-75 2.8, and 50 1.8 for indoors/outdoors. 50-200 for outdoors.

There's an old photography adage that goes, "glass before body." The idea being that good glass will grow with you whereas the body doesn't affect the image as dramatically as glass and gets replaced more frequently. But that adage is very old and becomes less and less relevant as camera bodies have become progressively more powerful.

In your situation a new body may open up as many creative opportunities as faster, sharper glass would.

It might help us better understand your situation if you had a budget you were trying to keep...

i'd say get a new body. i will be in the market very soon to upgrade from my xsi as i find myself to need better iso performance, fps, etc.

I'd go with option A, you probably wont notice too much of a difference with the 50D/T2i.

Sell everything and buy a 50d or t2i or w.e. And get a tamron 17-50 and a 55-250 if money is a concern

OK Money is around 700-900 so with that i can get the lenses well if used both new one .....

But i can not get a and b with that few money

Is that money from which when you sell your gear or is that 700-900+ the money from your gear sold?

I have 700 now wich can get the 70-200 l or the 50d

I do not want to sell the xs , save as backup

i can sell the old lenses for new better ones

I just upgraded from the xs to a 7D, I like the camera way better, but my old lenses didn't do it justice so I had to get better glass. I am still working on glass. My 18-55mm was pretty good on the xs, not so much on the 7D.

I would say better glass unless you really need better AF, and higher iso, or more fps.

The question I would like for you to answer is:

What about your existing equipment is causing a limitation in your work?

A bunch of years ago, my son purchased a brand new 300D (the original Digital Rebel) which came with the original EF-S 18-55 lens and quickly learned to produce some really high quality photographs with it. This proves that one does not need the latest greatest equipment to make good photographs as most folks would really poo-poo the 300D/18-55 kit.

In my opinion, improving one's skill is far more important than trading up the hardware.

I started my XS on Ebay for $1.00 and it went for $425 and it was over a year old. If I upgrading body I would not keep the XS for backup, after having 7D xs is to toyish.
