Wow, that thing looks, as they intended, Rock and Roll. I remember reading somewhere that they're currently completing the deal with their US vendor. Wonder where that stands

Huh, interesting find. IMO they are pretty ugly, but if they end up coming over to the US at a low price point and make a half way decent product, theyll move a few out there.

You aren't joking. Ugly as sin and way too short.

Lol! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that...

PS, here's how it compares to my 190xprob + 488RC2, both with their legs fully extended:

Slightly taller if anything.

Do you think you could remove a leg and take a picture and measure the thickness of the CF?

Hey all thought I would add my two pennies here as a owner of an eddie for about two weeks now. Must say I am overly impressed. I will agree the lower parts of the legs are somewhat thinner than so e and do feel more flimsy but I have had eddie in varying conditions and positions and he hasn't let me down. As for the company they were really impressive. I got a note before delivery saying they had a problem with the head I ordered so I would be getting one to use as my own and they would swap it over when mine came in. Thought that level of service is hard to come by these days. I am travelling abroad with it next week so will write a proper review, but wanted to say that as of here and now, it is a great addition to my kit and sits nicely on the side of my nat geo backpack, and stops me worrying about my 5d mk ii falling anywhere....

I'm looking at getting their ball head. I need something to go on top of my Feisol travel tripod. I looked at Photoclam but in the UK I can only order from Hong Kong (too long wait). So will order AH-2 ball head tomorrow. WIll post results when I get it. :)

You're right about the lack of height but they're no more ugly than any other tripod. I like the fact they're using color on their product. Also I like the design of the top leg collar, three leg angles, the top leg section is fixed into a very deep collar, and a well designed sliding angle stop that's very Benro-like and an improvement over the Gitzo design. You can use those stops with gloves on.

The brown truck just left. :) The ball head is here, after quick testing (nothing scientific) it looks really good. Worth the money. :) Also the knobs are nicely placed that the travel tripod legs fold back without trouble.

awesome package :D (external link) by Oskars Lablaiks (external link), on Flickr

Also their packaging is really nice, different than the usual brown cardboard boxes.

I ordered the black version (only one in stock at the time). I find it quite nice looking, nothing ugly about it. :P

Keep us updated on that ballhead.
Any reason why you chose the AH-2 instead of AH-3? For only 10 quid more you could get a ballhead that supports 4kg more (for a total of 12kg), although it is 170 grams heavier...

I'm looking to pick up one of these ballheads up. Could anyone make a comparison between the Ah-2 and the ever so popular Manfrotto 488rc2/498rc2?

EDIT: I'm really liking how much weight the 3LT's support.

I picked the smaller one because I have Feisol 3441T tripod (legs fold backwards). So size did matter and the largest thing I own is 24-70L. :)

Before this tripod I used to have 190XPROB w/ 486RC2 (bit smaller than the 488). To be honest, this ball head is miles better. There are few flaws that could be improved, but nothing that would make the ball head bad.

I just came back from few hours walk around country side. Only thing I can complain is that the knob adjusting the balls grip. It can get quite annoying as it can loosen it self. Just means that the locking knob has to be turned little bit more.

Think it is from their site only. But as you are in US look for Photoclam ball heads, they get really good reviews. http://reallybigcameras.com/ (external link)

What other flaws do you see?

I hope you set the drag on it so that it doesn't just flop over if it loosens itself. This sounds like a pretty big flaw and somewhat of a deal breaker.

The thing is if you don't touch the knob it will stay in position, it is quite easy to change the setting on it. For example putting the tripod in the bag will change the setting. But thats something to adjust before the use. :)
