Greetings all,

Looking for some comments and suggestions on the following 6 photos.

For those who want more information - these were taken at a local provincial park which received nearly 3 feet of snow. Beautiful for picture taking!

Photos have minimal post-processing with the exception of compensational corrections through cropping. Only photo with a signficant post-process is the first, which has a layer mask on the snow in the foreground to remove the shadow-tinge that the initial photo had.

Would love to hear your feedback. I think this is one of my better sets, mainly due to the beautiful landscapes that were before me. What do you think?

#1 I'm not really a fan of. I feel there's just too much open space at the top and it really isn't grabbing my attention.

The last one I love! The lines are almost hypnotizing to me and it works better than #5, at least from my point of view.

3 and 6 are the winners for me, 1 could be great, but there is nothing in the foreground and the clouds don't do enough to keep the sky interesting

1, 2, and 3 don't do much for me. Too much empty space in #1 and 2 and 3 are kinda snapshot-like.
4 is a nice shot. I like the foreground element and how it leads the eye into the shot.
5 and 6 would be better if the bottoms of the trees weren't cut off. #5 is better because you have the tops in the frame. #6 has top and bottom cut off.

Thanks for the positive comments all.

I needed a wider lens on this day! In images 5 and 6 I was standing back as far as possible to get the shots that I did. A step further back and I was in a huge a mound of snow.

The sudden white line at the bottom of image 6 is snow that was cleared off of the road. Taking a step forward got the bottoms of the trees in focus but took away from the frosted leaves that I think add to the image.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments. Anyone else with feedback/suggestions for improvement next time out?

One other thing I'd mention is that the snow in most of the shots is gray indicating under-exposure. This is common when shooting snow. The bright white fools the meter causing under-exposure. Use +EV (+1 to +2) to compensate.

4,5, and 6 have the most potential, I love the setting. Oftentimes you need to walk around for a while to find a better spot. Agree with snow exposure. If you can bracket and have a tripod, play around with over-underexposure and metering. Never forget to have fun :D
