I guess a half a loaf is better than no loaf at all!
Sorry about that, I couldn't help myself. If you get one and find you like working with a tablet/pen in place of a mouse you will find yourself looking for more features as are in the larger ones with all the bells and whistles.

I know high-end retouchers who use a Bamboo. It's fine for image editing.

I have an Intuos, Bamboo and a Cintiq which are all Wacom products. They each serve their purpose. I use the Bamboo when I am traveling as it is nice and light. If doesn't have as much customization available for it but it is better than not having one. I think it is a good option for someone that is just starting out with a tablet.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Don't overlook the Intuos3. Some who upgraded from Intuos3 say they didn't gain anything special. (Others, of course, thought it was a good move.) I've been using an Intuos3 (small) for several years, and I'm still delighted with it.

My first tablet is the Cintiq - and it takes a LOT of getting used to. I still use the mouse for many functions because it's faster. For fine detail editing/drawing the tablet pen is better.
