Downloaded a few and they look pretty good to someone who doesn't really understand processing that well. Those that I did download and mess around with have good flexibility on most layers created by the action.

Good stuff. I'll try it out on some real images and post a few.

No action produces a final image on it own, as far as I am concerned. It might get you 90% there at the most. But unless you have the same color blend, exposure, and contrast as the author did to make the action, you are going to have to tweek it a bit. There is no such thing as an 'all in one' action. Not even a 'most in one'.

Actions also are not necessarily for "someone who doesn't really understand processing that well" but to shortcut repetative processes on multiple images. They are simply time savers. Run the action, then give the final tweek. You can learn from actions though. Pay attention to what each step does. And you can learn how to get some effects and use them on your own.

Exactly. Kind of what I'm noticing. I like what they do and have definitely been tweaking what I'm seeing. Agree 100% ... no such thing as a one-size-fits-all when it comes to processing images!

Kinda fun and the actions are another tool that is helping to speed up the learning curve.
