Just posting one to give a shout out to my home-town boyz. Nifty Fifty with my T1i. I setup the camera and wifey took the shot.

I agree with Superdiver, it looks a bit soft to me.

I can't stand either team. The Jets are too arrogant and their QB is just BUTT ugly! I can't stand the Steelers either. So whomever wins the game I hope gets blown out in the superbowl by Green Bay!!

Apologies to bump the thread, but this took me some reading to figure out: The softness is caused by recomposing with a shallow DOF... Y/N? Do y'all select a specific autofocus point and then specifically avoid recomposing?

what body?

at a close distance to the subject, the focus will shift a few inches when half pressed and recompositioned. This is probably why the focus was on the towel. At a close distance, you should select the AF point.

+1. On a T1i and a 50mm, your DOF is 3" at 5 feet away. Move 1.5" front or back and your subject is already OOF. Not much room to play with unless youre using a tripod. Best to use selective AF points at narrow DOF's in my opinion.

Although, the nifty fifty doesn't have the best reputation for AF either.

Goo Steelers The Browns aren't going to the big dance again. I've been a Pittsburgh fan too many times before. That's the way the brownies crumble Never any hard feelings.
