i have a question i sent my camera 5D in for a cleaning with a lens. i got the lens back and the camera got stolen off my patio. the funny thing is both shipments came the same day i got a tag for the lens but not the camera two different trucks not the same guy. they left it on my porch. does anyone know what canon will do. will they replace it.

thank you
joe

UPDATE: yes fedex has told me they settled the claim with canon. canon said they ordered me a new camera and gave me a repair number. so hopefully i will see a camera this next week.

Actually it is the shipping company that will have to pay for it, as they are the ones that lost it. But I would let canon fight it out with them.

Yes, the shipping company is probably on the hook. Its hard to imagine they dont require a signature for delivery.

The shipper is ultimately responsible (unless you gave them written permission to leave it on the porch) but the shipper (Canon) is the one that has to file a claim with the shipper, not you. You will need to contact Canon and have them file a claim.

You said it was 2 different drivers. Is it possible that the other guy dropped it off at the neighbor's house by mistake? This has happened to me on occasion.

Where did you give them instructions to put the boxes. And I'll have to check my last fedex delivery to see who signed for my lens hood. Something is afoot!
