Pretty loaded question as it is. It would depend on where you are located, what market you're in among a variety of other things.

I've had good luck in just searching for sr photogs in my area and checking their prices when I needed info like this.

Good luck.

Haha

Fact is they are right that question is very loaded. What is the market your wanting to fill? Low, mid, high? How I do it is there is a session package that includes sitting, and a variety of prints, the rest is a la carte, so depending on how many prints they order is how expensive it will be... hope this helps.

Around here it's an up-sell, you pay $50-150 for the sitting fee and the packages start around $150+ I do believe.

Why do you ask? Trying to get work photographing seniors or do you have a senior who needs pictures and want to know what is is too high or too low?

I have a cousin who wants to take pictures and I'm trading work. Were finishing our basement and he is an electrician who does side work. I'd like to charge a couple grand cuz I'm sure thats what it would cost to wire our whole basement but that ain't gonna happen. I wish there was a thread just for senior pictures that way I could get an idea of poses. I understand it's a loaded question but our local photographers don't put prices on the net. Smart for them but bad for me! The senior I would be taking pics of would be all outdoors pics and no studio which sucks cuz I just built a studio with lighting and the works in our storage area in the basement. I've been combing Omaha for sites and came up with some pretty good ones so kind of excited. I would take the pics and put them on a CD. They want to be in charge of printing them. It's there choice and one less thing to worry about. I do understand you make money by printing but keep in mind this is family. Thanks in advance.

What's your experience level with portraiture and seniors? How much time did you plan on spending to create the photos? How many final proofs do you plan on offering? If you answer those questions, I can give you an idea of what I would expect to pay :)

Well if it's family I would suggest you offer your services and have prints made that you are happy with and then give it to them FREE!!!! You just might get that wiring job done at no cost!!!

Doesn't sound like you have alot of experience so finding out what other photographers get for their Senior Portarits is pretty mute. There's alot of difference in those photographers that hand over a CD and those that actually offer a professional product w/prints.

+1 on the labor, maybe wire, hardware, lighting at cost. Family members should do things for one another.
