Need a 2nd body for weddings. How best to complement my 5D2?

I'm in the exact same situation as you are (heck, I even have the 35L and 70-200 2.8 II like you do! :D), and I am definitely looking to pick up a 1D3 as my other body for upcoming wedding work.

Nothing wrong with the 7D, I've used it and liked it, but after careful consideration I think a 1D3 works better for my tastes/requirements.

Good luck with whatever route you choose.

Well, I sort of surprised myself with this one... The 2nd body is indeed going to be a crop body-- a D300s. That will complement my new D700 quite nicely while I save up for a D3s. :)

Yeah, I decided to make the switch. A financially non-destructive way to do an even switch was available and I took advantage of it. The clincher was actually holding the D700 and getting to play with it a bit--I was very impressed. As a product line, Nikon's bodies have everything I'm looking for feature-wise, I prefer the ergonomics/build, and best of all, the bodies actually exist now... the uniformity of design in terms of controls is a nice plus as well.

Hopefully I won't be shunned from the forums because I've learned a ton about photograhpy on here--and I still own an S95. :D

Congrats on your decision, I'm glad you finally found a combo that will work well for you.but if you want to send me those lenses...
