Interesting frost on my window

We had a cold snap here that created some nice patterns in the frost on my bedroom window. First was evening light, second is this morning (window faces East). I really needed a tall tripod to get the first shot nice and square the way I wanted it, but I like how the image came out with a little tweaking on the contrast.

Neat! Looks like ornate glass etching. It's normally plain clear glass?

The frost is on a modern storm window outside of a 1930's double hung upper section. The feathery patterns and symmetry only happen on these windows, none of the other ones in the house get much frost at all.
