I know that these are not up to the standards set on this site but I wanted to post them anyway. I did not crop either of these. The 500mm can really bring them in close.
They both were shot with the following settings:
f7.1
1/1000
ISO 200
500mm
Spot metering
AWB

I've only had the 500mm since 11-30-10. I've tried it both with and without the Wimberly and found advantages and disadvantages with both. These were handheld.
Thanks for looking.

Ed

Where taken, Ed? Great shots-hope my Sigma can come close to that IQ. Supposed to arrive today and if so, I will try to go to L & D 14 tomorrow. Looks like you shot those in cloudy conditions and that is what is expected tomorrow-AGAIN!?! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment. These were taken on 1-16-11 at lock and dam 14. It was cloudy. Happened to be there when SteveJa and Kato were around. If you've seen some of Steve's posts he really nailed some great shots.

Thanks Ed, I just got lucky. I see you have the same problem I do with the 500, it cuts the wings off.... not sure if I should send it back or not. I hope I can get back to LD14 on a good clear blue day.

Don't send it back. Get a FF to correct the "problem"..:D
I have to go back. I may actually do a round trip in a single day if weather and time permit.

The MKIV is cropped 1.3. Less than my 40D and the 7D but its still there. Tell you the truth I've not shot a FF. Besides I'm in love with the MKIV.
