i'm just wondering if flickr messes with your pictures? does it perform some weird processing on your pics?

pics look fine before i upload, and then when uploaded to flickr, i find the images flat/underexposed. i thoguht perhaps my colorspace is messed up but i double checked and its definitely srgb. also, the exact same pic outside of flickr looks fine. also on other websites the same jpeg looks fine.

There is some slight compression applied but not nearly as bad as photobucket does.

The only thing I have noticed is the added sharpening.

Same here. Never noticed any issues personally.

No. Just account for it when you process with the intention of uploading to Flickr.

I've noticed a slight increase in sharpness and noise when I post in Flickr. This shot was not this sharp before I posted in Flickr:http://www.flickr.com …ikedee-photos/5336966581/ (external link) it also added a little noise to the sky. I now try and compensate before posting. When I post to Flickr I make it private and check it. If it's OK I then make it public,if not I delete it and work on it a bit more and then repost it. Or you can go straight to Picnik in "actions" drop down menu, and "edit in picnik" and try to fix it there.

What is the size and dimension of photos you're uploading. That would be helpful to know.

just found this thread and thought i'd revive it with something i noticed recently. Now many of us here likely would not use the flickr/web based photo editing program they have called 'picnic' so this may not apply to everyone. I noticed a couple of my original images were very large and i used the 'picnic' web based program to scale them down and that was all i did, much to my dismay the colour was drastically changed once this was done and i quickly undid what was done by reiploading. So steer clear of that service even for the smallest and most mundane of tasks such as resizing.

Nice to know about the sharpening because i had noticed recently that one of my images seemed over-sharpened on flickr and i automatically assumed i did it in post which is not really my style.

Under the flickr pro account I think you can store the original, at least that's my understanding. I don't think it modifies the picture any to my knowledge.

Flickr doesn't have that feature. Maybe you are thinking about Smugmug.

See section "Are there limits on file sizes or file types for uploads?" and "Can I access my original images?"
