When shooting portraits I use two alien bees, at around 400, with two shoot through umbrellas for a nice soft light. I place these to the sides and around five-six feet in front of the group I'm shooting and use an on camera flash to fill in the front of the faces.

It's an easy set up, shouldn't have to many shadows, and lets me shoot at f9 or 11 so that I can have multiple rows of people and not worry about the kids or adults being soft.

I haven't used the lights you're looking at though, so it's hard to say how the quality will be.

This is my camera, there are many like it, but this one is mine.
