Just received the D650 boom and imagined that it would fit on my A5029 (A420) stands. So, is there an adapter or should I have purchased an upgraded stand as well?
Any help appreciated..
Chris

Getting a cine stand is one way for resolve your dilemma.

Another option might be to replace the stand extension with one that has the cine receptor, like this one:

What I'm not sure about is whether that extension will fit the base of your stand or not. If it doesn't, you might be able to just remove the cine receptor and attach it to your stand (after you remove the 2nd 25mm riser; the cine receptor fits the 30mm section of the stand extension).

You can get an adaptor, but there's a reason the A420 only has a 5/8 spigot to start with - it won't handle big loads well.

Look at the renamed A510. Steel risers instead of aluminium. Built in cine socket. Wider footprint. Much higher max load rating. That's what you want under a boom.

thanks for the feeback guys. The A5036CS stand is looking good so I'll order one as soon as B&H opens up today.
