Moving Lightroom photos

Hi All,

having a bit of a sort/backup here, and id like to move about 300gb of images from one drive to the other, but they are all Lightroom adjusted. Im assuming is I was to simply move them lightroom would not know where to find them.

Im wondering if anyone knows if theres a correct/incorrect way to move the images and retain all my Lightroom adjustments?

If you move your catalog to a new drive then start Lightroom a box will open asking you to find the catalog, click browse find your catalog and click ok, job done..

Move images from within Lightroom and it will keep track of them.

The catalog is something different then the images.

This is the correct answer.

For moving actual image files to new location from current location, you have two choices:
1. As previously mentioned, within the Library function of LR drag and drop folders in the left panel
2. From within Windows Explorer, move the files to new location, then within LR small question mark symbols appear on the relocated folders...Rick Click, choose 'Find missing folder' on the pop up menu, and navigate to the new location and Choose.
