I see the latest upgrade to DPP includes the unsharp mask. Knowing absolutely nothing about unsharp mask and how it works, and after playing with it, I don't see much of anything happening as compared to the sharpness adjustment. Does anyone have a link as how to properly use this application, and can/do you use both sharpen and unsharp mask or one or the other? Thanks

The Unsharp Mask has its roots in film processing/printing. This webpage has a very concise explanation of it as used in Photoshop.

Thanks Chas, will definitely give it a good read and experiment.

James, when playing with Sharpen vs. Unsharp Mask it is important to NOT be zoomed at "Fit to Window" under the View menu.
Zoom to 50% view at the very leaset and then try the two.

For some reason, the Fit to Window does NOT reliably present the sharpening. One of those quirkds ...

Thank you Sue, much appreciated. I'm going to have to read the info in the link that Chas sent me so I can further understand what it is and what it is used to correct or alter. I'm pretty tied up today but plan on getting to that in the am.
