What do you think? IMNSHO, it's a great image - but I really question the $1M price tag for a one-of-a-kind photo.

I think I need to get a [new] agent!!

The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

Couple threads on it - search "million" or "peter lik". https://photography-on-the.net …85168&highlight=peter+lik

The same could be said for the Mona Lisa and the Scream picture, but obviously a lot of people out there think they are worth the price. How many times has the "scream" painting been stolen?

Its a nice image, but I'm not sure what made it worth the million...maybe it was his hyperbole-laden prose that described the morning. I wonder how much it'll be worth when he's dead. ;)

Lik has incredible self attitude for those who may not know him personally.
It is an aranged sale for self promotion.
He could not bear that A. Adams photos sell for more than his.

peter lik seems to receive a bit of hate (or maybe jealousy).
i would never pay that much for any of his photos either but
you can't deny he's got his market sorted, and thats great for him.
i bet he worked really hard to get where he is.

i had heard about this and now seeing which image it actually is
i'm kind of suprised. i expected it to be a different one.

to each its own. the picture is worthless unless someone is willing to pay a dollar amount for it, in this case 1 million.

OOPS! I would have deleted that one. Maybe it looked better befor processing? On the link it looked way over saturated and false to me, but that's just my opinion and I don't have a million dollars ( or a million of anything else for that matter!).
However the photographer has mastered the hardest part of photography, selling the image! I don't even like the image but they have found the idiot to buy it! So CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE to them.
P.S. Can I have the address of the twit who bought it?

He's made a name for himself, good on him and so now people are wanting to pay for his name - wish I could sell one photo for a million! time to retire :D

This image looks easy to replicate, we should all try it ;)

Oh yes, I saw this before and I wouldn't pay 1million for it. However peter lik does shoot some incredible photos. Do you think this photo (external link) is worth 1million?

I have a feeling when most art like this is bought, it has less to do with the buyer actually liking the way it looks, and more to do with them seeing it as an investment.

People weren't buying the early Andy Warhol pop stuff because they liked the way it looked, they recognized it was the start of a new movement in the art world and thought it may be a good investment.

Wouldn't doubt if it was a publicity stunt though.

All you really have to do to get loaded is take an abstract picture (this can be taken with a little P&S camera), and then give some deep mysterious meaning to it when you explain it to the billionaire art collectors, and BAM! Instant millionaire.

its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and in this case a fair wack.

It must hit the right strings for someone to fork out that much, so well done to the photographer.
