Keep in mind Eleven11, that for any product, posts on forums like this are are most often going to show more negative than positive. This is usually because if you are happy with the item, you are less likely to post a comment. But if you are dissatisfied, you're very likely to make a comment about it. Plus, negative comments always seem to stand out just a bit more when you scan the pages. Sometimes though, the product is truly horible. I don't think this is the case with the Sigma 30mm though. I've read to many great comments about it and have seen many great shots. Still, nothing is perfect, so once in a while you will always find a 'bad apple' regardless of the product.

Oh, and welcome to POTN! :)

True.

Thanks for the welcome. I caught the photography bug bad a few months back. I'm learning more every day.

The Sigma 30mm stays on my 7D more than any of my other lenses. :) Congrats. It's a fantastic lens.

I was worried that mine would not AF right after reading all the horror stories here but mine is dead all at all apertures 99% of the time. The other 1% is user error

Yea people tend toforget that at f1.4 the focus is so shallow lol, and think its a lens error! Im really digging the new finish too, great stuff. Was a tossup between this and the 24L but im happy with this i think :)

What exactly is the new finish? Would you mind posting a pic of the lens itself kingbob? :)

The new finish is smooth, whereas the old one was textured.

See post #12 in this thread for a side by side comparison
