I don't have a full running length as I never killed one on a single shoot. Let's put it this way, with a fresh set of batt's in my grip on my 7D, I have to change them and my batt's in my h4n before I have to worry about the monitor, so it is a good long time. Plus, they can run anything with a 12v plug so they are way more useful in a pinch then batt's you need a mount for. Also you can cut off power at the battery level with a switch so you don't risk draining them having them connected.

I was thinking about going that route and just having a ton of interchangeable batt's for everything but for me, I think this method works the best. Either way works, it's just what you prefer.

Yah...I bought a PoS Chinese 12v battery with the monitor when I originally got it. It just died on me so now I'm trying to decide between battery plate and the 12v battery. The only thing keeping me from the 12v option is I don't have the cash to buy two and I'm wary to go without a backup. (as opposed to the battery plate since I have 5-6 lpe6's)

I can certainly understand your reasoning. Having a ton of batts that power multiple devises sounds like a good idea. But again, for me, if my h4n batts die and I have no spares, I can always plug my backup pack into it in a pinch :)

I'm trying to do the math in my head. LPE6's are what.... 2000mah? And the battery you linked is 6800mah which would suggest that the DC battery would last 3.3 times longer than the LPE6? I'll wait for someone smarter than me to tell me if that's correct or not. If that's the case I'm thinking it might be worth it to just spend the extra money to go the DC battery route and same my LPe6's for a whole day of shooting on the camera

btw your cage is a beast. Makes my rail system look so puny
