Saw this gut enjoying the sun while the wife and I were out walking in one of the local national parks yesterday. This is a Shingleback Lizard also known as a sleeply or stumpy. They are a very slow lizard (hence the nickname sleepy) and as such eat more plats than insects but do like to eat whatever slow insects they can find. They have a very strong jaw for crushing and do have teeth, but have no poisons/toxins.
When threatened they open their mouth to make their head look bigger and display the blue tongue. They also quite often will hiss when doing this.
