Voted 602's strictly because they have been highly tested and you know exactly what you will be getting.

The V5's do sound nice though.

Buy both and test it yourself. If you like one or the other better then sell the other one. Pretty sure both are in high demand so you will eventually get your money back +/= a few $$

Up until I had the opertunity to test the Cactus V5 I had always recommended the YN-602. But things change. While the V5 is not perfect (I wish it were smaller) it does have some convenient features. And considering that you will likely be using whatever trigger system you pick you might seriously consider how much these features will help in the long run.

While both the YN-602 and the V5 have a multichannel mode of operation the V5 is practical to use where the YN-602 is not. It is difficult to change the channel setting on the YN-602 where it is really easy on the V5.

If you ever consider using a flash with a high trigger voltage then the answer is simple, V5. Wide temperature operation is another V5 plus.

No matter what your choice will be you still will be getting a good trigger set.

Here's a link to a set of rf-602 from a us seller. I just found it, only thing is that he doesnt offer a 1 year dealer warranty on it.

Having Transceivers, instead of TX / RX is a nice bonus to the v5s. Having AAA is a nice bonus.

Having a channel selector thats possible to use in-the field, *or so i heard* would also be a nice bonus.

I wouldn't mind shelling out for a V5 set if i hear good things, but i do have 3 TX, 1RX RF-602s and they have been super reliable. I could keep them and use them to trigger my camera though!

That being said, i had bad experience with the V4s interference on my 5d1... So...

Now I have never used the rf-602 but I hear they are a good system. I had cactus v4's before. I was lucky to be able to test the cactus v5 system for over the past month. The parts I like are. The transceiver design. So I have the ability to do on axis fill. The next is the reliability. I ran out of room to test at over 600 feet not one miss fire.. The use AAA batteries. They handle more than 12v strobes.. They have been tested to 300v. They feel really solid. I demonstrated this in the following video showing the stability and strength. I was very very impressed with them.

You can see a video where I swing my 580EXII around on them trying to shake it lose.

Also you can read my review below so decide for your self. It has not been released yet, and there already is a very large rf-602 following so it is up to what features you want..

The con's of RF-602:
Shipping time.

And that's all I can think of. Haven't had one problem yet. If you find someone in the US selling used, I would buy it immediately. I can buy so many for the price of one pocket wizard. They're cheap, small, and lightweight. No need for any velcroing. I couldn't ask for anything more.. (other than PLEASE YONGNUO GET A US SUPPLIER).

Cactus V5 released!

http://www.gadgetinfinity.com …ductid=17567&cat=0&page=1 (external link) shutter release cables in related products. Believe me the cable is worth it. The features of the shutter release are nice.

No its not its just been announced.. If you go to the store you will notice none are on there. The main thing that would worry me with the RF-603 is a transceiver design with no lock down!?! Would you trust the 603 with your heavy flash on camera with no lock down? I sure as heck would not.

Great thread, I'm interested aswell...

Quick question though, what is the limit on the amount of recievers both units can handle? And has anyone used more then just 2 recievers on either of them?
