Instead of starting a new thread everytime, I'll just keep updating this as I go and my photo experience improves.
Layla is nearly 3 months old today. She's getting good leg strength so I tried to put her in the plaything (I have no idea what the correct term for this is). Unfortunately, she's just too short to enjoy the toys. Bummer. But, she looked so cute in it, I had to take a couple pictures before snatching her up out of it.
She definitely has her momma's eyelashes and eyes.
any tips or constructive criticism is welcome!

Yep, try to aim the focus for the eyes, and if you are counting on your central focus point, that works, but then your subject's face will always be slightly below centre in the photo and you're always cropping to get the composition right. What camera are you using (I tried checking the EXIF but can't see any)? If you can, try to choose an AF point just above centre. I'm just learning, myself, but I found it helps a lot with portraits and action shots alike. Landscape would be opposite, but that's another story... haha
