I am new to doing photography on a higher level. I just got the 550D a big step up from the old point and shoot I had. Tell me what ya'll think of my photo. I want to get better at photography. Thank You :)

Lovely shot - great start! The focus does seem a bit soft on the eye, however it could just be because the photo has been shrunk down for the forums.

You could try sharpening the eyes a bit more or maybe next time shoot at a smaller aperture. That will help get both eyes in focus. It appears that the hands are what is in focus in this shot. Also, watch the super bright areas, such as the top left corner of this picture. Try and make them not so bright.

With all that being said - this picture is still wonderful! Great job and welcome to PotN :) :)

Hmmm.....did you over whiten her eyes or is she wearing an entire contact lens? Her left eye appears to have a line that indicates that.

Her eyes were just really bloodshot that day. The only touch ups I did were with the levels.

Thank you! I am actually going to shoot with her tomorrow. I will keep your tips in mind. What aperture size do you think I should shoot at? I'm gonna try and redo this shot.

I like it. Other than that, my only comment is the line on the inside corner of her right eye is a little distracting. I don't know if it's an eye lash, the edge of a contact lens or something else?

Her right eye looks good and sharp, not soft at all. Maybe that user was using a low resolution screen which displays images larger than high resolution screens.
