Completely off topic - Navman GPS

We're heading over to the States for a road trip in April and over here I have a Navman GPS in the car. I was thinking of buying the U.S. map to put on it and use it over there. My question is do any POTN'ers use Navman GPS's and are the maps / directions good? Over here they can be a bit iffy in certain spots - i.e. doing point to point highway it may try to send you down some suspect dirt backroad instead of the main highway.

No direct experience with Navman products - just be aware it might actually be cheaper to buy a cheap GPS unit here. The cost of additional maps is usually expensive, but there are some reasonably cheap GPS units here - best buy currently has some at US$69-89.

Thanks Daniel. Yeh, I thought about that, but I'm used to the Navman and its controls. Besides, I've got to get from the airport to the hotel on the first night and it'll be dark, so the thought of getting lost while trying to drive on the wrong side of the road (for us Aussies), the wife next to me giving me directions while reading the map upside down, you know how it goes haha

I know that feeling - I'm a Kiwi in the US. Though I've gone back and forth enough times, that both sides of the road seems natural the day after arriving. The biggest problem for me is not actually on the roads (where driver is still on center line), its car parks and getting into the car.

In answer to the original question - basically it's the map data, and whether the GPS system allows you to suppress gravel/dirt roads. I know my tom tom does have the option, but some of the roads arent marked as such in the map data. No doubt you'll be fine, as you'll probably be hitting the major touristy things, where the system will send you down the interstates / major highways as the speed limits are much higher than the back roads.
