I like #1 best. It's tough to get a good prop blur when the rpms are dialed back for landing. (But not impossible.) ;)

I think the reason (Frank) he doesn't have any 'prop blur' is the fact that he shot at 1/400 and higher...at 1/200 he would have gotten 'some' blur...and at 1/125, some decent blur.

It's not easy panning at low shutter speeds but with practice and persistence I've managed to get some good prop blur at the airshows.

I've done some practicing in my neighborhood, out on the main street, panning cars, and have had success shooting as low as 1/40 sec.

More blur would be nice and I had it nicely stopped down in Aperture mode but as the bugger got closer it upped the shutter speed. Next time I will try in Tv.

ps 300F4L IS on a 7D.

OK, so I went back there this morning to meet the 9:55am flight.
I was all set up in manual mode to shoot at around 1/160s.

But the windsock was doing this. :(

So this landed from the ocean end. :(:(

At least I got good prop blur.

Thanks for the tips and encouragement Peter. I will continue to try and get "the shot".
