Looks like the exposure was very long, look at the right leg. Plus it looks like the image is way too noisy, which of course is not a fault of the lens or TC

I think the sample had tons of user error. What's the EXIF?

I shot this just two days ago with my 70-200 Mark II with a Canon 1.4 II TC. The 2xIII can't be that bad.

Not the best photo but this little guy was stunned after flying straight into glass head-on which allowed me to get up awfully close.
