Here is a short review of the Matin Shooting vest, for those days I don't want to carry a bag around.
It also acts as a backup when travelling just in case I need to check in my camera back pack due to carry on weight restrictions.
The vest is made out of a supposedly water resistant material with a mesh liner and comes with 13 pockets. The vest is well made and shows good attention to detail with all seams well stitched.
It has a shorter style fit, which I prefer. The closer fit it prevents the equipment load from shifting too much.
As you can see from the front view there are 10 pockets on the front, 2 large internal and 1 super large pocket on the back, the larger pockets are all zip enclosures while the smaller ones have elastic and velcro flap closings.
There are also camera strap retaining bands on each shoulder, I use the two smallest pockets for LP-E6 batteries x2 and the P&S camera.
The other medium sized pocket can hold the 430ex II and there is hook loop as well.
The main cargo compartments are large and have some additional thin padding. On the front of one of them there is a pen pocket and a smaller pocket for business cards etc.
I use them to carry lenses like the 135mm f/2.0 and the teleconverters or a flash unit, as you can see there is still a lot of room in each pocket after this configuration. You could carry camera bodies in them as well.
The vest is mesh lined to assist in cooling and there are 2 internally zipped medium sized pockets. You can also see the vest hood in the photo.
On the back, there is a very large zipped compartment, I usually put the 200mm f/2.8 lens in there to balance out the weight on the front of the vest. You can also see the zipped hood compartment.
The main compartment zip opening is on on the right hand side.
