I know, I know, it's film. But my friend said he didn't want it anymore, so I took it. He said it works and all but before I go out and get some film to try it out, is it even worth using? Especially considering that fact that it's 17 years old. I'm used to working with the 7D and T2i, by the way.

I use mine all the time. Great camera. Not much different from using a modern DSLR.

It probably needs a new battery, so go buy one first.

You scored if you got it for free. My friend has the Canon EOS-1N RS and it is a fantastic camera body so I would think the EOS 1n will be not much of a difference between the two. Get some film and go shoot.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I love my EOS 1N RS, great camera, still works great! Full frame 10fps 36 shot 'raw' buffer, that's still faster and a deeper 'raw' buffer than the 1Ds Mark III

No, it's not. It sucks as a camera - worse one ever made. Please send it to me so you don't discover how awful it is.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

What's a 1N with a E1 power booster in good shape worth and what's the best way to scan afterwards?

Thanks

Check ebay for what they are worth, but as far as scanning, the highest quality method is a high end negative scanner with careful processing and the easiest/cheapest way is to have them developed by a local lab and scanned at the same time for a couple extra bucks. For me, the latter is the best way because I don't have the time or money for a good scanner.

Too bad it cost about $10 minimum for every 3.6 second burst. And the time to clear the buffer depends on how fast you can rewind and reload the next roll! :)

:) Send it to Tony...

Heck I still use my old mans FX from 1963 and I am looking to purchase a Leica M3 when I am done with school. My next flat is gonna be fitted with a darkroom for peaches sake.

Film is still amazing even more so than digital. I say that I get more keepers on that old FX than with my 50d.

You should check out my fridge, I have more film than food in it.:)

Lots of old stuff but hey I am a student
Photojournalist in Johannesburg.

Worth about $150-$200 with the booster. About $100-$150 without. Worth every penny of that, IMO. The EOS 3 is in the same price range and is a better (more like newer) camera, but I prefer the older 1n for its sleeker looks.

Scanning; you can either do it cheap but slow and tediously using a flatbed, or expensively but still slowly and tediously using a dedicated film scanner. Or get a CD made when you get the film developed, which will not be as good quality unless you use a pro lab.
