Hey all,

Have an Induro CF tripod. Model CX-114. I'm looking for a good ballhead.

I currently have an Induro DM-23.

The deal on Gitzo heads got me thinking about this one:
GH1780QR

What do you guys think of that? I have a gripped 7d with 17-50 2.8 or the f4L 70-200. I on occasion rent the 500mm f4L for wildlife but not that often.

Would I even consider letting the 500mm touch the Gitzo? It's suppose to be rated to 22 lbs.

Thanks for any help!
Aaron

What you want is a ball head that conforms to the Arca-swiss type of QR plates. This will allow you to rend a Sidekick with the 500mm.
Look at Markins.

Never used a Gitzo but I have Induro BHD-2 and love it!

I've had various incarnations of the larger Gitzo ball heads for years on various tripods and other devices.

Lately I've found that modern equipment is all that much heavier I'm going to be looking to get at least one Really Right Stuff BH-55. Not concerned about QR as I have a ****load of Gitzo G1385 QR plates and bits on which I've standardised.

The rot set in on weight of gear with those pesky autofocus lenses and it was downhill from there.

Which the Induro Dm23 does.

I thought the DM23 wasn't an arca swiss compatible?

it's a dovetail clamp.

I've used my Induro plates on RRS, Kirk ballheads and use them on my Acratech.

They fit and clamp just fine.

You can clamp a wimberly into the DM23 no problem as well as I rented one and used it on my previous DM23 head.
